the envelope

The Envelope handbag is constructed using one continuous piece of textile and lined with one continuous piece of leather. It is trimmed in leather and has two gussets – one on either end. It has a magnetic snap closure and one interior pocket. The Envelope is made entirely by hand with upholstery thread and a hand awl except for a few areas of trimwork that require a sewing machine. It is adorned with a decorative braided leather tassel on one end of the bag, which is woven and cut by hand. This particular textile is a nomadic Kazakh from the western area of the Caucasian Region in Armenia and was woven in the late 19th century.
